IT STARTED WITH A LOVE AFFAIR...

...with a queen called Hatshepsut. She was arguably one of Ancient Egypt's most powerful rulers.

She called herself 'pharaoh' - a term typically reserved for male rulers. She was the first Queen to wear all male regalia. She was a strategic thinker; expanding trade routes, establishing diplomatic ties and creating amazing monuments to show the prosperity of her rule (most of which were destroyed, because people were threatened by a strong, non-conforming woman). 

She was a boss, she was fiercely and unashamedly herself, and I wanted to honour her.

Each piece is inspired by the stories of Ancient Egypt, the fearless women who ruled that era, and powerful symbols of protection, prosperity, and rebirth.

MEET MORGAN - THE DESIGNER

Ever since I was a little girl, I was deeply infatuated with Ancient Egypt. I remember flipping through the pages of my gold Egyptology book; admiring the art, the architecture, the society, the deities and the fashion. I remember wanting to share my artistic interpretation of this incredible society this with the world. I never did.

When I visited Egypt for the first time, I shed a little tear for my younger self. I knew what I had to do.

Morgan (my name) and Äya (meaning 'bird') is my way of letting this part of me finally fly. This is my ode to Ancient Egypt and I am so excited to share it with you.

THICK GOLD PLATING

We mostly produce 14k or 18k Gold Vermeil jewellery. This is a very specific combination of metals and plating - jewellery pieces can't be classified as Gold Vermeil unless it contains a base of 925 Sterling Silver and 2.5 layers of gold plating.
